Nerve damage (paralysis of small muscles of the hand, foot or eye of a person) occurs due to involvement of nerves in leprosy thereby crippling the person and affecting his mobility. NLR India Foundation provides protective or assistive devices like MCR foot wears, crutches, tricycles, wheel chairs, grip aids, protective eye glasses and artificial limbs to persons affected by leprosy to combat activity limitation due to leprosy. So far 3453 persons have been given aids and appliances to increase their mobility for performing their day to day activities.
NLRIF with Ministry of Social Justice & empowerment to support ADIP Scheme
NLR India Foundation has organized under Assistance to Disabled Persons Scheme (ADIP) scheme to provide aids & appliances to persons with disability (PWD) in Jeevan Deep Kusht Ashram, R.K.Puram, New Delhi on 19.01.15 & 29.05.15 in collaboration with PDUIPH, New Delhi, under ministry of social justice & empowerment, Govt. of India. 31 persons with disability (PWD) received appliances tricycles-6, wheel chair-1, crutches-1 & MCR shoes-24.It will enable them to regain mobilization and participate in social activities.
